Dear Neighbor,

I have written to many of you in the past about my efforts to address the problem of inconsistent mail delivery in the 42nd Ward. Although mail delivery is a federal responsibility, I have taken on this challenge personally because I understand that accurate delivery of the mail is vital to the welfare of our community.

On Friday, March 24th, I was the only elected official to attend the U.S. Postal Service's Congressional Update Meeting. I gave a brief speech encouraging the postal service to concentrate its efforts on recruiting dedicated, competent mail carriers. As you and I know, neighborhood mail carriers are the key to ensuring that the mail gets delivered accurately and on time – especially in the high density neighborhoods of the 42nd Ward.

I will continue to attend these meetings in addition to keeping in close contact with the Chicago Postmaster and will update you on the results.

In the meantime, please continue to help the postal service improve mail delivery by encouraging others to include your unit number in the address of all correspondence sent to your residence.

Also, continue to keep me informed about any changes you observe in your mail service – both positive and negative – so that I can communicate your feedback to the Chicago Postmaster and other postal officials.

You can call my office at 312-744-3062 or e-mail me at bnatarus@natarus.com with any comments or questions about mail delivery in your area.

Sincerely,

Burton F. Natarus,
